In John15, Jesus says that we are the branches, He is the vine and that we must abide in His love. His love is the sap of the vine that flows into the branches.  We cannot do anything without experiencing His love flowing into and out of us. 

We remain connected to the vine through the relationship of Love that comes from the source of Love (Father God) in the same way that Jesus is, because He is in us and we are in Him.  It is important to remain and live in the daily experience of His love for us.  Otherwise we do not produce the fruit of the vine….

We often think that this passage means it is our responsibility to love Jesus so that we can be in the vine.  However, it is the reverse. We can only receive His love and live in it.  So doing will result in us bearing much fruit.
